Congratulations on every sober day. Truly an accomplishment. In a weird way, it sounds akin to cancer survival in how people celebrate when you make it past that culturally acknowledged point but then act like, 'Ok, you're good now. Back to normal!'

Let's just say there were cases of LaCroix that got me through the cooking process.

Thank you: you are an inspiration. You have helped me and I know you have helped others. By the way, I'm old. And I cook, my sons cook, and I'm learning all the time. So if you have any questions, fire away. When Son #2 really began to take cooking seriously, I bought him Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything, a great foundation.

Congratulations on your 2 year soberversary! I am so proud of you!! Ryan is coming up on 18 years, and I still write a card for him every year to celebrate the accomplishment. It usually says, "I'm glad you're here." And so, Cari: I'm glad you're here.

Side note: Beth & Robert came over for dinner Friday, and we had the olive oil cake you recommended a few posts back. Delish!

41 years for me, and your article still resonates. I agree with everything. I rarely think about drinking anymore, but the quick fix temptations still arise, often in other guises (spending, gambling, sex, etc). Fortunately the avoidance techniques I’ve learned in sobriety work on those temptations as well.

Keep it up, you’re doing great!!

Coming up on 4 years sober myself, and it's still hard. I miss the ritual, but certainly not the lack of control or the hangovers. Way to go!
