Reminds me of where I was at emotionally right before I got sober. Far more people hit points like this, but people never want to talk about it, making it more isolating... and also hiding the hope that can come from people who made it out of these places.
Oh wow. This really hit hard. This felt like such a personal piece to read and so meaningful. Thank you for sharing.
I'm currently doing my doctorate in psychology and looking to conduct research around experiences of loneliness. I'm wondering whether substack is actually a media outlet that allows people an opportunity to not just connect to people socially but also to make a meaningful contribution to discussions and connect intellectually. Any thoughts?
You have put a very powerful thing out into the world. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
You are an amazingly talented writer, Cari. As always, thank you for sharing a piece of yourself with us.
Thank you!!!! 💖

Don't lose hope.
Oh, I'm in a much better place now than in 2008 (and very sober, too). But it takes what it takes, I guess ...
Guess I glossed over that 2007 part. Glad to hear its the distant past.
